Well friends, here goes another blog post showcasing my ever-growing love for Savannah, GA! Click here to read about my previous sunny Savannah welcome! When my friend Lynzi and I realized another three day weekend was fast approaching, we planned a last minute trip to Savannah, GA! We knew the drive would be roughly 10 hours round trip, and we would have to try hard to maximize our time in Savannah. With the Airbnb booked, the next order of business was determining some cool things we could do in Savannah on a very tight budget and with limited time. Enter Travel Savvy Friend...Melody Joy Munn. If you don't know who she is, take the next few seconds to visit her website here, and follow her on Instagram. My friend Mel is a fashion blogger, travel photographer, graphic designer, wife to Christopher Munn, and lover of all things coffee! She is a lovely human being, and frequently travels to Savannah to visit family and friends. When I asked Mel to recommend some things to do in Savannah on a budget, this was her very detailed response: A Message From Mel:" Hey Anastasia! So you totally should stop by the Paris Market (they have tasty pastries and a good white forest mocha, French press and caramel latte). Across the street is amazing pour over coffee at The Coffee Fox (which serves locally brewed Perc coffee), and another great coffee or brunch spot is The Collins Quarter (Australian owned, celebrities go there while filming in Savannah). They serve really good Toby's Estate coffee (Brooklyn based), they also serve Brooklyn cold brew and a really good Australian iced coffee (which is more like a delicious shake)! Also, Savannah Bee Co. has lots of free honey to taste! Walk around the shops all along the Broughton Street strip. Check out City Market at Ellis Square (you can get unlimited free cookie samples at Byrd Cookie Co. downtown in City Market!) 24e has some great interior design inspiration on their second floor, go up the extremely old/eery elevator, which is also on Broughton. A few doors down, Leopold's has the BEST ice cream. Civvies was my go to place for shopping when I was living there growing up. It is the best vintage thrift store in all of Broughton. One of the best rooftop views of the river/bridge is Rocks on the Roof. Located on River street, on the rooftop of The Bohemian Hotel. No one will ask you any questions, just go to any lobby, take the elevator to "R" roof, and just snap some pictures if you don't want to purchase anything (but you totally can buy stuff). People just go there to look at the view all the time! Also, the ferry is totally free to the other side, and comes every 20/30 minutes. Take it across to get the best shots of the Savannah river, skyline of River street, and the bridge (you can just roam along the Westin Resorts boardwalk or sit on their benches for a nice sunset view of River street). The boarding for the ferry is at the bottom of the Hyatt hotel, on River street, or you can just ride it there and back. Standing at the front to get those Titanic like images. Haha! Also, for food...Zunzi's, on Drayton street, for amazing sandwiches. B&D Burgers. Sandfly BBQ. The Olde Pink House for excellent higher end food and a romantic atmosphere. Spudnik is a tasty hole in the wall potato bowl place. The Florence is a legit atmosphere for food and coffee too! There are just so many good cafes/restaurants though if you Yelp. lol. Also, Spanky's on River street is one of my favorites. Their chicken fingers and spuds are so good. 😃 Also, Maté Factor is a cool place too for coffee/pastries and sandwiches. For the best pizza in Savannah, Vinnie Van Go Go's is the best. There is an ATM right in City Market, where it's located, as it is cash only and opens at 4pm I believe. The outdoor seating is nice. There are multiple restaurants in City Market too! 😊 Hope this helps! 😊" My Savannah Checklist...In one and a half days, we managed to check these places off our list!
